Quick answer: Mercury outboard prices in Ontario range from about CAD $1,300 for a 2.5 HP portable to CAD $33,000+ for a 225 HP Pro XS V6. A 9.9 HP MH FourStroke is around $3,000. A 90 HP ELPT FourStroke is around $14,800. A 150 HP FourStroke is around $22,000. These are dealer selling prices in CAD before tax, install, controls, prop, and trade-in. Harris Boat Works publishes every Mercury price live at mercuryrepower.ca/pricing-reference, including model numbers, shaft codes, and stock vs. available-to-order status. Most Ontario Mercury dealers don't.
If you've been shopping Mercury outboards in Ontario and you're tired of "call for price" forms that take 48 hours to come back with a number you can't compare to anything, this guide is for you. We publish every Mercury motor we sell, with real CAD pricing, online. You can sort it, build a quote against it, and walk into our shop already knowing what you're paying.
This is the canonical price reference for Ontario Mercury buyers. We update it as Mercury Canada updates pricing (which happens periodically through the season), and we pull from the same live database that powers our quote builder. The numbers below are real numbers, in CAD, for motors a Mercury Platinum dealer (Harris Boat Works, Gores Landing, ON) will actually sell you in 2026.
How Mercury Outboard Pricing Actually Works in Canada
Before we get into the tier-by-tier numbers, a few things every Ontario Mercury buyer should know.
MSRP vs. dealer price. Mercury sets a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price for every model. The dealer is allowed to sell at or below MSRP (and sometimes runs promos that go further). Our published prices are the dealer selling price. The MSRP is shown next to it for reference. The gap between the two is the discount you're getting just for shopping with a transparent dealer that publishes pricing.
What's NOT in the motor price. When you see a price like "115 ELPT FourStroke: $16,913 CAD," that's the motor itself, on a pallet, in our shop. It does not include:
- HST (13% in Ontario)
- Controls (binnacle, side mount, or remote, typically $700–$1,500 depending on type)
- Prop selection (your hull and use case dictate pitch, typically $400–$900 for an aluminum or stainless prop)
- Rigging and install (cable runs, gauges, wiring, transom mount, typically $1,200–$3,500 depending on complexity)
- Sea trial and break-in
- Trade-in credit (if applicable, this brings the number down)
- Any Mercury or dealer promo (financing rates, bonus warranty, accessory credit)
We're not going to surprise you with any of these at delivery. They're discussed up front and shown line-by-line in your quote. The quote builder at mercuryrepower.ca/quote/motor-selection lets you add controls, props, and accessories before you ever talk to a person.
Stock vs. available to order. "In stock" means we have the physical motor at our shop in Gores Landing. "Available to order" means it's a Mercury catalog model we can order in for you, typically with a 1–4 week lead time depending on the model. Both are real options, and the pricing reference flags which is which on every motor.
Why most other Ontario dealers won't show you these numbers. That's a longer conversation, and we wrote a full piece on it: why Mercury dealers hide prices online. Short version: most haven't built the systems to do it, and a few prefer the leverage of negotiating in private. We don't operate that way.
Mercury Model Codes (How to Read What You're Buying)
Every Mercury outboard has a model designation that looks like alphabet soup. Once you know the code, the price suddenly makes sense.

Translation: a kicker motor for serious anglers. The price is around $5,000 CAD because of all those features stacked together. A plain 9.9 MH (manual start, tiller, no power trim) at the bottom of the line is $2,999 CAD. Same horsepower. Different motor entirely.

Portable Mercury Outboards: 2.5–25 HP (CAD Pricing)
The portable class covers everything from a 2.5 HP pull-start for a dinghy or canoe up through a 25 HP that can put a small fishing boat on plane. These are the most-shopped Mercurys in Ontario after the mid-range tier.

What changes the price within a horsepower class.
- Tiller vs. remote. Tiller (MH/MLH) is cheaper because you're not adding a control box. Remote (ELH/ELPT) adds electric start and remote steering, and costs $300–$1,500 more.
- Shaft length. Long shaft (20") fits most boats. Extra long (25") fits taller transoms. Adding shaft length adds $100–$200.
- Power trim (PT). Tilts the motor up and down hydraulically. Big quality-of-life upgrade; adds $400–$600.
- Command Thrust (CT). Bigger gearcase, more low-end torque. Designed for pontoons and heavy hulls. Adds $400–$1,000 over the standard gearcase. Worth it for any 9.9 HP motor going on a pontoon.
- EFI vs. carb. Most modern Mercurys are EFI now. The 2.5–6 HP class still has carb models for simplicity and lighter weight.
Real-world pairings on Rice Lake in the Kawarthas (Ontario): A 9.9 MLH on a 14 ft Lund tin boat for fishing is around $2,999 CAD plus install. A 9.9 ELPT Command Thrust ProKicker on a 20 ft pontoon as a trolling motor is around $4,900 plus install. Same HP, very different motor, and a $2,000 difference in price for legitimate reasons.

Mid-Range Mercury Outboards: 30–115 HP (CAD Pricing)
This is the bread and butter of Ontario Mercury sales. Mid-range Mercurys power most of the pontoons, fishing boats, and small bowriders on Rice Lake, Ontario (in the Kawarthas), Pigeon Lake, Stoney, Buckhorn, and across the Kawarthas. If you're repowering a 16–20 ft hull, this is your tier.

Things to know about this tier.
Pro XS vs. FourStroke at 115 HP. Both are 4-stroke engines on the same platform. Pro XS is tuned for performance: quicker hole shot, higher top end, sport-oriented prop selection. FourStroke is tuned for smoothness and fuel economy. For a pontoon or family bowrider, FourStroke. For a bass boat or someone who wants snappier acceleration on a 19 ft runabout, Pro XS. Same price within $50, so the choice is about character, not money. Full breakdown: Pro XS vs. FourStroke buyer's guide.
Command Thrust matters for pontoons. If you're putting a 60–115 HP motor on a 20–24 ft pontoon, the Command Thrust gearcase is the right call almost every time. It's a bigger gearcase with more torque, designed exactly for the high-drag, low-RPM demands of pontoon hulls. The price premium ($300–$500 over standard) pays for itself in performance and engine longevity. We wrote a deep-dive: Mercury Command Thrust guide for pontoons.
Pontoon HP sizing reality check. A 20 ft pontoon needs at least 60 HP CT to get up on plane reliably with a load. 90 CT is the sweet spot for most. 115 CT for tritoons or anyone who tows tubes. Don't underbuy the motor. We see the consequences (lugging, slow planing, premature wear) every season. Full sizing decision tree: pontoon HP sizing guide.
Mid-range pricing drivers within an HP class.
- Standard vs. Command Thrust: $300–$500 premium for CT. Worth it for pontoons; rarely needed for V-hull boats.
- Tiller (ELHPT) vs. remote (ELPT): Tiller versions are popular on big tiller fishing boats. Remote is standard for most installs.
- Shaft length (L vs. XL): $100–$200 difference. Has to match your transom. Measure first.
- Pro XS vs. standard FourStroke (at 115 HP): Roughly equal in price. Choice is about performance character.

V6 Mercury Outboards: 150–225 HP (CAD Pricing)
The V6 tier is where Ontario Mercury repowers get serious. These are the motors going on 19–24 ft bowriders, big aluminum bass boats, walleye boats, and the occasional offshore-style tin or deep-V. If you're shopping a Mercury 150, 175, 200, or 225, you're probably planning a real repower, not a same-day pickup.

Things to know about the V6 tier.
150 HP is the sweet spot. If you're repowering a typical 19–21 ft bowrider, the Mercury 150 FourStroke is the most-installed motor we sell. It's lighter than the V6 above it (180 lbs lighter than the 200), gets better fuel economy, and has more than enough power for skiing, tubing, and cruising. The Pro XS variant adds performance-tuned engineering for boats that need a quicker hole shot.
FourStroke vs. Pro XS at 150–250 HP. Same architecture, different tuning. FourStroke is the family-oriented choice: smoother, quieter, slightly better fuel economy. Pro XS is for performance applications like bass boats, tournament fishing, or anyone who wants the holeshot snap and higher RPM ceiling. Pro XS adds about $1,500–$2,000 to the price.
Verado is special order. You'll notice we don't have Verado V8/V10/V12 prices in the table above. Mercury Verado is the premium naturally-aspirated line: V8 250–400 HP, V10 350–400 HP, V12 600 HP. (The older inline-6 Verado was supercharged; the current V8/V10/V12 generation is naturally aspirated.) We can order Verado, but it's not in our default catalog because the volume in Ontario is low and the lead times are longer. If you want a Verado quote, call us directly at (905) 342-2153.
Repower considerations for V6 buyers. When you're spending $22,000–$35,000 on the motor itself, the install and rigging numbers also climb. Plan for:
- Controls and rigging: $2,500–$5,000 (V6s typically use SmartCraft / VesselView digital controls, more wiring complexity)
- Prop selection: $600–$1,200 (stainless, matched to your hull)
- Sea trial and break-in: included
- Old motor removal and disposal: typically included in the install quote
- Trade-in credit on your current motor: varies; we'll look at it during your quote
For a typical V6 repower, the all-in landed price (motor + install + rigging + prop + sea trial) is generally $3,500–$6,000 over the motor list price. So a 150 HP FourStroke repower at HBW is roughly $25,000–$28,000 all-in. A 225 Pro XS repower is roughly $36,000–$39,000 all-in. These numbers are CAD, before HST and before any trade-in credit.

How HBW Pricing Compares to Other Ontario Mercury Dealers
This is the part most people want to know but won't ask directly. Are HBW prices actually competitive, or are we showing you the numbers because we're more expensive?
Short answer: Our pricing is at or below MSRP across the board, with discounts that typically range from 5% to 12% off MSRP depending on the model. The MSRP is shown next to every dealer price in our pricing reference. You can do the math.
Compared to dealers who hide prices: When buyers eventually get a quote from a "call for price" dealer, the number is often within a few hundred dollars of ours, sometimes higher, occasionally a touch lower. The difference is the time and friction. You spend three days getting their quote. You can build ours in three minutes online.
Compared to dealers who advertise "the lowest price in Ontario": Be careful. Some dealers advertise low headline prices and then add line items at delivery (controls, prop, freight, prep) that bring the all-in cost equal to or above transparent dealers. We don't do that. The line items on your quote at mercuryrepower.ca are the line items on your invoice at delivery.
Where we won't be the cheapest: We're not going to undercut a US dealer running a clearance event. Cross-border buying brings duty, brokerage, warranty restrictions, and shipping headaches that erase any savings. Mercury Canada warranty applies to motors purchased through Canadian dealers, period.
Where we are demonstrably cheaper for most Ontario buyers: All-in landed cost (motor + rigging + transparent quote + Canadian warranty + Mercury Platinum service after the sale) is the number that matters. On that math, we're competitive with anyone in the province.
Mercury Promotional Pricing and Bonus Warranty (When Things Change)
Mercury Canada runs promotions through the season: typically spring repower season (March-May), summer in-stock blowouts (July-August), and fall "buy now for spring" pushes (September-November). Promos generally come in three flavors:
- Cash discounts off MSRP on specific HP classes.
- Bonus warranty: an extra 2–3 years on top of Mercury's standard 3-year warranty (so 5- or 6-year total coverage on eligible motors during the promo window).
- Financing incentives: low-rate financing through Mercury's finance partner.
Important: Bonus warranty is promotional, not standard. Mercury's standard warranty in Canada is 3 years, concurrent (not stacked). When you see "up to 7 years!" advertised, that's a promo combining the 3-year standard with bonus years that change every season. If a dealer advertises 7-year warranty without saying "during current Mercury promotion," ask which promo they're referencing. Check our Mercury warranty guide for the full breakdown.
The current active promos (as of this article's last reviewed date) are reflected in the dealer prices on our pricing reference page. When promos roll over, we update the page.
What's Different About Buying Mercury at a Platinum Dealer
Mercury's certification levels for dealers are: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum. Platinum is the top tier, requiring:
- Factory training across every Mercury family (FourStroke, Pro XS, Verado, SeaPro, Avator)
- Full G3 diagnostic equipment (the proprietary Mercury diagnostic kit)
- Stocked parts inventory
- Demonstrated annual sales and service volumes
- Top-tier Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) scores
For pricing on the motor itself, Platinum and Bronze dealers are generally similar (Mercury Canada sets MSRP, dealers compete on discount). For everything after the motor, Platinum makes a real difference: warranty work, complex diagnostic, repower expertise, parts availability, and the ability to handle unusual configurations without sending your boat somewhere else.
Harris Boat Works has been on Rice Lake since 1947, a Mercury dealer since 1965, and a Mercury Platinum dealer for over a decade. We're the dealer GTA buyers drive 90 minutes to reach, partly because of the pricing transparency and partly because of what comes after the sale.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a Mercury 9.9 HP outboard cost in Ontario?
A standard Mercury 9.9 MH FourStroke is $2,999 CAD dealer price ($3,875 MSRP). A 9.9 Command Thrust ProKicker (the popular trolling kicker) is around $4,900 CAD. Add HST, controls (if remote), and any rigging or installation.
How much is a Mercury 150 HP outboard in Canada?
A Mercury 150 L FourStroke is $22,022 CAD dealer price. A 150 ELPT Pro XS is $24,107. Both are before HST, install, controls, prop, and trade-in. All-in installed cost on a typical 19–21 ft bowrider repower is generally $25,000–$28,000 CAD.
What's the difference between Mercury MSRP and dealer price?
MSRP is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price, set by Mercury Canada. Dealer price is what the dealer actually sells the motor for, which is at or below MSRP. The difference is the discount the dealer is offering. Harris Boat Works publishes both numbers next to every motor.
Why don't most Ontario Mercury dealers show prices online?
Some haven't built the systems to do it. Some prefer the leverage of negotiating in private. A few are concerned about price-matching by other dealers. We've decided that publishing every price is better for the customer and easier on our staff. Full piece on this: why Mercury dealers hide prices online.
Does the Mercury price include installation?
No. The dealer price is the motor on a pallet at the shop. Installation, rigging, controls, prop, and sea trial are quoted separately. For a typical mid-range repower (60–115 HP), expect $1,500–$3,500 in install/rigging on top of the motor price. For a V6 repower (150–225 HP), expect $3,500–$6,000.
Can I buy a Mercury outboard cheaper in the US?
Sometimes the headline price is lower, but the math usually doesn't work out. Cross-border duty, brokerage, shipping, currency conversion, and Mercury Canada warranty restrictions on grey-market motors typically erase any savings. Mercury's Canadian warranty applies only to motors purchased through Canadian dealers. We strongly recommend buying domestic.
How long is the Mercury warranty?
Mercury's standard warranty in Canada is 3 years, concurrent (not 3-years-plus-3-years stacked). Mercury runs promotions periodically that add 2–3 bonus years for a total of 5- or 6-year coverage during the promo window. When you see longer warranty terms advertised, those are promotional, not standard. Full breakdown: Mercury warranty guide for Ontario buyers.
Can I order any Mercury motor, or only what's in stock?
Both. Our pricing reference shows status for every motor: "In stock" means we have it physically at the shop, "Available to order" means we can order it from Mercury Canada with a typical 1–4 week lead time. Both are real, fully warrantied options. The quote builder lets you build either one.
Are these prices final?
The dealer selling price shown is the motor price. Final out-the-door price depends on which controls, prop, rigging, and accessories you choose, plus any trade-in credit. The quote builder at mercuryrepower.ca/quote/motor-selection generates a complete quote with all of those line items included. That number is final, before HST.
