Frequently asked questions
- How is the trade-in value calculated?
- We anchor to the median actual selling price for the same HP, year, and family in our local market, then apply brand-specific adjustments. Mercury and Yamaha hold value strongest. Honda, Suzuki, Tohatsu, and Evinrude are accepted with applied penalties.
- Do I need to bring the motor in for inspection?
- Not for the online estimate. The instant estimate is binding within reasonable condition variance. A short visual inspection at drop-off confirms condition grade and finalizes the credit.
- What condition grades do you use?
- A 1 to 5 scale. 5 is showroom, 1 is scrap. Most running motors fall between 2 (rough, runs) and 4 (well kept, full service history).
- What brands do you accept?
- Mercury, Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Tohatsu, Evinrude, and Johnson. Each brand carries a value adjustment based on Ontario resale demand.
- Can the trade exceed my new motor price?
- No. Trade-in credit is capped at the motor subtotal so the quote never goes negative.
- What if my motor does not run?
- Non-runners get a salvage value, typically $200 to $800 depending on HP. Bring photos and we will quote it.
