As checked September 5, 2026, the same Canadian page lists those dealer upgrades. Its mechanical-engine timing footnote and overlapping 350 Verado ranges require dealer confirmation; do not treat the table as an automatic eligibility guarantee. The current page does not list a 225 HP FourStroke.
Important note on the 350 HP Verado: The dated dealer-upgrade range is 3B266064 through 3B578266. Factory-installed Boost on the Verado 350 starts at serial 3B576449. Those ranges overlap, so a Mercury dealer has to confirm the exact serial number, control system and installed calibration.
Factory-Equipped Motors
As checked September 5, 2026, Mercury's Canadian page lists factory-installed Boost on 2026 Pro XS 175, 200, 225, 250 and 300, Verado 250 and 300, and Racing 150R starting at serial 3B612473, and Verado 350 starting at 3B576449. Dealer-upgrade eligibility is a separate list. Have a Mercury dealer confirm the exact serial number, control system and installed calibration rather than using a serial cutoff alone to decide whether Boost is already installed or available.
How to Find Your Mercury Serial Number
The serial number is the only way to confirm eligibility.
- Transom bracket, most common. Port (left) side of the mounting bracket. Metal data plate.
- Engine block, stamped directly on some models.
- Under the cowling, printed on a label on newer outboards.
Practical tip: take a clear photo of the plate and save it on your phone. You will want it any time you call a dealer or need warranty service.
How to Get Boost Installed
Boost can be purchased and unlocked through Mercury's supported app flow on some eligible single-engine boats or through an authorized Mercury dealer. App eligibility has configuration limitations, and some motors require a dealer software update.
The process:
- Bring the engine to HBW
- HBW confirms serial number eligibility
- HBW confirms whether the motor needs a paid unlock, software update, or is already factory-equipped
- A short test run confirms the update
Mercury does not publish one universal Canadian retail total that applies to every motor and visit. HBW confirms eligibility, the current upgrade price, and any required shop work from the exact serial number before booking. Do not use a converted foreign dealer price or a generic labour estimate as a Canadian quote.
Why This Matters for Ontario Boating
Mid-range acceleration is where the engine is most felt in real use. Not at full throttle, but in the transition from idle to cruising speed, when you are launching off Rice Lake's shallow flats, loading a pontoon with six passengers, or accelerating through a turn.
Mercury's published 5% to 21% figures are quicker acceleration from zero to top speed in tested applications, not a top-speed gain and not a promised improvement for every boat. The mid-range response change is most relevant on:
- Heavily loaded pontoons
- Family runabouts with full gear and passengers
- Eligible setups where mid-range response is the actual complaint

Boost is a software calibration that improves mid-range and zero-to-top-speed acceleration. It does not change rated horsepower, top speed, maximum RPM, or time to plane. A common customer who asks is a 150 FourStroke pontoon owner who wishes they had specced the 175, and we have to be straight with them: standard outboards below 175 HP are outside the current Boost list, except the Mercury Racing 150R. If time to plane is the complaint, Boost is not the promised fix; start with correct horsepower, propeller, setup, and load.
Eligibility depends on engine family, horsepower, model code, serial number, software status, and boat configuration, not model year alone. HBW checks the current Mercury status before quoting. Not every motor or app-based installation path is a candidate.
For HBW repowers, standard stock conversations usually start with FourStroke and Pro XS; Verado is service, special-order, or offshore context only.
